History

In 1861 a Scottish immigrant named Thomas Somerville, Sr. founded the National Brass Works on Maine Avenue in Washington DC.

  • The company produced castings and fittings for cannons and howitzers before entering the residential market

  • Potomac River access led to a rise in indoor plumbing and the company emerged as leading plumbing supplier, Thos. Somerville Co. in order to meet the demand

There are 8 Somerville Bath & Kitchen Stores as well as one Kohler Signature Store by Thos. Somerville Co. which serve homeowners looking to simply replace a faucet or remodel an entire bath or kitchen.
